Periodic Table Trend in Electronegativity

Electronegativity is a measure of the attraction an atom has for electrons when it is involved in a chemical bond.

Electronegativity generally increases as we go from left to right across a period of the Periodic Table.

Metals have lower values than Nonmetals

Electronegativity generally decrease as we move down a group.
